OpenMinds has been on an extraordinary journey so far. And now, we're ready to appoint the Head of Engineering to help us get to the next level.
This person will lead the entire technology team, including ML engineers, Data Engineers, Data Scientists, Full Stack Developers, and others. You will oversee the development and implementation of cutting-edge solutions in NLP and ML.
The unique part about this role is that your responsibilities will involve close collaboration with cross-functional teams of sociologists, anthropologists, psychologists, investigative journalists and building technical solutions on the intersection of different domains of sciences.
— Lead the technology team (currently 8 people) while fostering a collaborative environment
— Oversee the design, development, and implementation of ML models and algorithms, ensuring they meet high standards of quality and efficiency
— Encourage a culture of innovation, staying abreast of the latest advancements in ML and NLP and integrating them into the organisation's technology stack
— Mentor and develop team members, fostering their professional growth and skill enhancement
— Efficiently manage projects, ensuring timely delivery and effective utilisation of resources
— A strong background in machine learning, deep learning, and natural language processing. Proficient in Python, with hands-on experience in popular ML libraries/frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Keras
— In-depth knowledge of large language models, including transformer architectures like GPT, BERT, or RoBERTa, and their applications in diverse NLP tasks
— Familiarity with state-of-the-art NLP libraries and frameworks, particularly Hugging Face, for rapid development and implementation of NLP models
— Solid understanding and application of contextual word embeddings such as ELMo, Flair, or BERT
— Familiarity with data preprocessing techniques, including tokenisation, stemming, and lemmatisation
— Experience in working with social media data as a source for training and evaluation of NLP models
— A strong understanding of statistical and mathematical concepts related to machine learning, including probability theory, linear algebra, and optimisation algorithms
— Proficiency in leveraging cloud computing platforms, specifically Google Cloud Platform (GCP), for scalable ML model development and deployment
